Pooja was born at Faizabad, UP, India on October 27. Her father, an army Colonel, was frequently transferred with family, hence Pooja had to change schools. However that did not stop her from being an excellent athlete. She won the 400m dash three times, at the National Games. She graduated from Fergusson College, Pune and completed her MBA (Marketing) from Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
She shot to fame in the early 90's when she was chosen the second runners up at the Miss India contest. She represented India in the Miss International contest at Tokyo. Her 5' 9" frame, svelte figure and glamorous looks soon got her prestigious modelling assignments.
She was the first Indian female model for the 'Head & Shoulders' launch in India and has bagged ads for 'Liril Active Gel', 'Parag Sarees' and many more. She went on to scorch the ramps with around 250 national & international shows.
She was quickly noticed by Bollywood and was introduced in Virasat with Anil Kapoor. The film was a super hit and Pooja's performance was appreciated by critics and masses alike. Her talent was confirmed by her second release Bhai with Sunil Shetty, which was a great success.
Talking of films, Pooja admits that her film career did not go as it should have. Despite making her debut in a film like Viraasat, Pooja could not place her in the industry. They did the many films, but it was not taste success. Currently the actress is awaiting the release of Akbar Khan's Taj Mahal - An Eternal Love Story and has not signed anything. She is playing a role of Noor Jehan, even if it's a supporting role. Although they will be very busy with modeling assignments, walking the ramp in Europe and the U.S..
